Meat prices keep going up

The National Statistics Bureau reports that the price of major food products is up 7.7 percent over last month and 3.3 percent over last week. The biggest rise has been in meat prices. On April 14, the price of mutton, beef, goat meat and horse meat was respectively 16.5 percent, 18 percent, 28.8 percent, and 7.7 percent more than the March average. Compared to the week before, mutton price was up by 5.7-6.3 percent, beef by 6-6.7 percent, goat meat by 3.4 percent and horse meat by 1.5 percent.



As of yesterday, the average price of one kilogram of lamb with bones was MNT4,199, of boneless lamb MNT4,463, of beef with bones MNT4,975, of  beef without bones MNT5,338, of horse meat MNT3,389 and of goat meat MNT3,000.



In Arkhangai, Bayan-Ulgii, Bulgan, Dornogobi, Dornod, Dundgobi, Uvurkhangai, Zavkhan, Sukhbaatar, Khovd, Khentii, Darkhan-Uul, Orkhon and Gobisumber provinces, the average meat price has eisen by MNT 100-1300 per kilo. Only in Selenge province has it sown a decrease, by MNT 100.
