An inspector of the State Specialized Inspecting Agency (SSIA), B.Chinzorig, has detailed to journalists the results of an investigation by a working group led by MP D.Batbayar into the activities of construction companies building apartments next to the Tuul River. The group submitted its report to the SSIA.
As follow-up, the SSIA has barred some companies from removing sand and gravel for use in their construction. It will also ask a court to force 14 companies to pay for environmental rehabilitation.
The agency also did not see any result of the work done in a water treatment plant with a state allocation of MNT1.7 billion. The water released has been found to contain chemicals at a level between 8 and 12 times more than the accepted norms.
