Dr. Andreas Auer, Director of the
Center for Research on Direct Democracy in Switzerland, is in Mongolia on President
Ts.Elbegdorj’s invitation and read a paper on “The local-level structure of direct
democracy in Switzerland” at the International Relations School of the National
University of Mongolia on Sunday. After his address, he answered several
questions from the audience, which included students, on direct democracy, the history
of democracy, and the political system in Switzerland.

The event was organized by the
Office of the President and the Standing Committee on the Budget. President Elbegdorj
had invited Dr. Auer when he visited Switzerland in February.
