Monday’s regular weekly meeting of the Democratic Party group in Parliament spent its entire time discussing use of the electronic voting system, and found no time to review the draft law on a new election system. MNT24 million has been allocated in the 2011 budget for installation of the automatic vote counting system.
The General Election Committee briefed the meeting on how the system works and explained how it would have to be adapted to the election system. The DP MPs urged the election committee to take quick steps to installing the system, to select the best provider, and to prepare a detailed budget with the MNT24 million. The committee, however, pleaded that it cannot proceed far without knowing which election system was to be followed.
