Minister for Health S.Lambaa talks our journalist on the law on health that Parliament passed last Thursday.

How is the new law different?
The emphasis has shifted from treatment to prevention. We shall work more for a healthy and disease-free Mongolia.

What changes have been made in the structure?
Preventive services have been made the priority and will work separately. For example, soum hospitals would be renamed health centers to indicate that people will get medical check-ups and tests done there. Health organizations will have enough money for this.

What about family hospitals?
By law, a family hospital is a private organization that provides health services under contract. They get the building without charge, and the doctors are paid from the state budget. The Government also fixes the number of in-patients, and the number of doctors is also decided proportionately. Doctors in family hospitals will be given between 12 and 18 months’ extra salary when they are eligible for pension.
