The Chief of the Anti Corruption Authority (ACA), Ch.Sangaragchaa, has appealed against his sentence to serve 2.4 years in jail. However, the Subcommittee of Special Monitoring has not yet discussed the Prosecutor-General’s request months ago for his removal from office and the issue is not scheduled to be discussed in the Spring session of Parliament.

A reporter of the newspaper Uls Turiin Toim talked to a senior official in the media department of the ACA about how the ACA sees the issue.

Some people feel Ch.Sangaragchaa cannot be in jail as long as he holds office. Has the ACA sent any opinion on this to Parliament?

It did not because it has no right to send suggestions or views to Parliament.

How then could the head of your department, G.Badarch, request Parliament to take a decision on the matter?

Since the ACA is an organization under Parliament we have to inform the Speaker if its Chief is detained. Badarch did only this and the Speaker asked all of us to work according to the working plan for 2011 under the Managing Council’s supervision.

What about the rumor that E.Amarbat has been dismissed?

He was charged with dereliction of duty last fall and asked to work as an investigator. He did not agree at first but has been working as an investigator from April 18.

Is it true that Sangaragchaa runs the ACA from jail?

Absolutely not. The ACA, however, is working as usual.
