The city administration has stored 230 tons of snow melting substances, 400 cmt of sand and 280 tons of salt for use during the 2009-2010 winter. Of this, 80 tons of substance, 110 tons of salt and 240 cmt of sand have been used until now to remove the ice cover on roads. There are complaints that roads in distant regions have not been reached by the 230 workers and 12 trucks on the job from 5 am every day.

Mayor G.Munkhbayar has instructed the Metropolitan Special Commission to make this Saturday a day of public cleaning. Offices and businesses will have to remove the ice cover on the roads within a 50-meter range of where they are.

The Ministry for Social Security and Labor and the Metropolitan Labor Department have been asked to use unemployed people for this public cleaning and pay them for the day’s work.
