A Parliamentary delegation led by Speaker D.Demberel today left Mongolia to take part in the 124th conference of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which will be held in Panama between April 15 and 20. The team includes Deputy Speaker G.Batkhuu, MPs Ch.Saikhanbileg and Ts.Tsengel, and the Secretary General of the Parliament Office, Ts.Sharavdorj.

The theme of the present conference is “Parliamentary accountability: living up to people”s expectation”.  It will also discuss reports on how to prevent possible conflicts during an election, and to effect transfer of governance authority in a peaceful way, on Parliament’s duty to ensure stable development and proper management of natural resources, agricultural production and population increase, and on transparent and responsible financing of political parties, besides ratifying several protocols.

The conference will also deliberate on child-related Millennium Development Goals and how these will affect poor and vulnerable children.
