Parliament Speaker D.Demberel yesterday received the Director of the Asia and Pacific Regional Office of the UN Population Fund, Mrs. Nobuko Horibe, and exchanged opinions on cooperation. The Chief of the Standing Committee on Social Policy, Education, Culture and Science, D.Ochirbat, Minister for Health S.Lambaa, the Speaker’s Advisor S.Banzragch and other officials attended the meeting.

Demberel noted the success of UNPF-aided projects such as those on reduction of infant mortality and support for gender equality. He thanked the UN body for its help for other projects and measures that would be implemented until 2016.

Mrs. Horibe expressed her own happiness at the success of projects in Mongolia but said there was a lot more to be done, such as providing basic services to citizens in remote settlements, attending to the special needs of young adults and adolescents, and establishing a state organization exclusively for issues related to youth.
