The Annual Sand Festival takes place in the third week of July at the Lake Ereen tourist camp in the Gobi-Altai province, Mongolia.
Surrounded by golden sand dunes, Lake Ereen is a beautiful spot located in the Jargalan soum of Gobi-Altai province.
During the festival, various cultural events, an exhibition of ‘Made in Mongolia’ products, as well as sporting competitions such as sand volleyball, relay race to the ‘mountain top’, sand boarding, a sand sumo wrestling, polo match, anklebone shooting, children’s wrestling, and colt racing will be held.
The festival is held every year in order to develop sand sports based on the great dunes and Lake Ereen and to create a new brand of tourism destination and product for foreign and domestic tourists, travellers and holidaymakers.
