Heating plants are left with only 5-27 days’ coal reserves, following the disruption at the Baganuur mine and insufficient number of train wagons. The plants should have at least 30 days’ reserve at all times.

Mine operations have to be stopped after the temperature falls below 40 degrees Celsius. The heating issue becomes all the more urgent as temperatures are likely to be low for several weeks to come.
