Following protests from academics and conservationists, the Government has withdrawn the decision to allow two leopards to be caught or hunted for research in 2011. Minister for Nature, Environment and Tourism L.Gansukh yesterday organized an open debate on the issue where scholars and NGO representatives emphasized that there was no need to hunt leopards to conduct genetic research on the species. He accepted their argument and canceled the earlier decision.
