The Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy has collected MNT209 million to be used for relief in Japan, reeling under tsunami and earthquake. Officials of the Ministry have recalled how the Government of Japan had helped Mongolia over the past two decades with monetary and technological aid, especially in modernizing Baganuur and Shivee-Ovoo mines, and Power Plant IV.
Officials of the Ministry and employees at the mines and the power plant donated their salary for 1 or 2 days to the relief fund. The aid will be sent through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
