The President of the Confederation of Trade Unions, S.Ganbaatar, has once again urged the Government to reduce the interest on apartment loans to six percent. Only this will enable ger district residents to take such loans, so that they can move into apartment blocks with less polluting amenities. He also wanted special terms now covering only state officials to be available to private sector employees as well.

However, the CTU fears that voters will be promised apartments before next year’s election, and feels this will be a certain way to ensure the failure of efforts to provide proper and adequate housing. It wants a role in implementing such a promise, if one is indeed made.
