The Standing Committee on the Budget plans to hold a series of meetings in various aimags. The first of this took place in Darkhan city of Darkhan-Uul aimag on March 14, and was attended by representatives of state and administrative organizations and managing officials of financial and taxation organizations of Selenge, Darkhan-Uul, Orkhon, Bulgan and Tuv aimags, and the chiefs of Civil Representative Assemblies and Governors of soums.

The head of the Standing Committee, D.Khayankhyarvaa, opened the meeting and officials of the Ministry of Finance explained the contents of the draft laws on the budget and on buying goods and service in the state and local capitals.

Participants stated their views on the drafts, and MP Ch.Ulaan, head of the working group on draft law processing, assured them these would be considered when the drafts are discussed further. Devolution of budget spending rights to local areas should be done in stages, and should follow an improvement in the standard and capacity of the local areas’ performance.

The next meeting will be held in Arvaikheer city for representatives of Arkhangai, Uvurkhangai, Bayankhongor and Khuvsgul aimags.
