Presenting a report on the current economic, social and political situation of
The MPRP’s election campaign goals, aimed at economic growth and improving people’s lives, have been reflected in the action plan of the coalition Government approved by Parliament. “It is of the utmost importance to implement by any means this action plan. The MPRP and the DP are fierce competitors during elections and will always fight each other for political power. But now we are partners in the national interest and are solving problems together. For the sake of the people and the country, we must continue with this,” he said.
Referring to criticism of the Oyutolgoi contract, he said he had “no doubt its benefits will be clear soon”. People have started getting their share of the mineral resources and the process of reforming the election system and government service have also begun. Money is being distributed from the Human Development Fund, new standards in education are being enforced, the business environment is being improved, the private sector is being encouraged, the financial market is being developed, State-owned companies are being made more efficient, and the construction and manufacturing sectors are being strengthened. Many significant big projects, like Tavantolgoi, MNT 1.5 million to each citizen, New Railway, Smokeless UB have been approved to be implemented.
The coalition Government needs support. There must be questions and criticism, but they must be in an atmosphere of political and public stability. Certain groups want to encourage instability by saying they do not trust the government. It is irresponsible and unjust to blame the government for the effects of a global crisis or of a natural disaster. Every issue has to be traced to the roots and then assessed.
The MPRP will continue to play its historic and traditional role to stabilize a democratic Mongolian polity. We have been the political force to contribute most to the achievement of democracy and realization of human rights, freedom, free elections and press freedom. Our reconstruction projects will solve the ills of unemployment and poverty and we shall bequeath an open and clean party to the next generation which will continue to be proud of the MPRP, said S.Batbold.
Batbold criticized how some officials appointed by the people act irresponsibly. This will not be tolerated and the Executive Board has approved the procedures to evaluate and analyze the activities of members. Each member’s performance will be assessed by the General Control Bureau, the Ethics Bureau and the Executive Board.
