A national committee has been set up to oversee implementation of air pollution reduction programs, and to coordinate and monitor their progress. The Chief of the President’s Office will head the committee and the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar will be his deputy.

The committee will have 18 members including the State Secretaries of the Ministries of Finance, of Nature, Environment and Tourism, of Road, Transportation and Urban Development, and of Mineral Resources and Energy, and the Chiefs of the State Specialized Inspecting Agency, the Standard Measurement Office, the Police General Department and the Energy Authority.

The committee will submit a report on its work to Parliament and the President every three months and will approach the Government and the National Security Council in case of any urgent need. It will have branches in all Ulaanbaatar districts under the chairman there.
