As usual on all his trips, President Ts.Elbegdorj visited the courts of Dornod, Sukhbaatar and Khentii aimags and exchanged views with judges about judicial reforms. He stressed that all work in a court must be transparent and open and court officials should serve citizens with respect for their rights, and provide them information they ask for.

Judge General Ts.Batsuren of Dornod aimag which has four courts, told the President that court decisions there are now posted on the web. However, internet use is not very popular in local areas. On an average, 30 citizens read court decisions on the internet every day.

The Court of Sukhbaatar aimag also claimed to work transparently. It has its own building where civil and criminal matters are separately decided.

The Court of Khentii aimag also posts its decisions on the web. A Committee of Juvenile Crimes works there as part of a UNESCO project to support children charged with breaking the law. Court officials said there has been no case against a child in Khentii aimag since December, 2010.  

The President reminded the judges to punish the guilty in a fair manner but also to protect the innocent.
