Minister for Health S.Lambaa today submitted a draft law on narcotic drugs to Speaker D.Demberel. The present law has been in force since 2002 but abuse and smuggling of such drugs have been increasing and now pose a threat to national security, and health.
The money from drugs trafficking also finances international terrorism and other forms of organized crime. Mongolia is a member of several UN-sponsored and other conventions aimed at curbing the practice.
The draft seeks to strengthen regulatory measures to make monitoring more effective. It covers both users and dealers.
