Petroleum prices are increasing in the international market because of fears the Suez Canal could be closed due to the disorder in Egypt. In anticipation, the Government has accepted suggestions from the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy and the Ministry of Finance to reduce excise and customs tax on petroleum products.
Excise duties on diesel have been totally withdrawn and on A-80s reduced from MNT190,000 to MNT160,000 for imports through Sukhbaatar, Zamiin-Uud, Ereentsav and Altanbulag border points. The import price from Russia is likely to increase.
