Ulaanbaatar city where live 1.2 million residents or 40% of total population of Mongolia has air pollution that between 10 and 20 times more than air quality standard. Besides, respiratory organs sickness has been sharply increased due to air pollution and a survey shows that MNT775 billion was spent for sickness treatment in 2009.
Thus, the President has suggested 10 measures including to improve air quality in ger districts, to ensure reliable electricity transmission net in ger districts, to ban raw coal burning, to encourage electricity price bonus at night time and to reduce taxation for import of heating equipment that meet standard requirements.
The group members approved the mentioned measures and established working group headed by D.Batbayar to prepare group conclusion within February 2. Also members viewed to pay attention to regulate residents’ transition, to conclude a responsibility agreement with citizens and to pass heating standards.
