World Bank reminds Mongolian PM of obligations

U.Khurelsukh, Prime Minister of Mongolia received a World Bank delegation led by James Anderson, Country Manager for Mongolia on 30th of October.

The Prime Minister noted that loans provided by World Bank under IMF programme will be a big support for Mongolia in overcoming economic difficulties and the policy and cooperation between the two sides will continuing.

In response, Mr Anderson said, he will examine possibilities of advancing the Executive Board meeting of World Bank over the issue of the loan fund by International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD). The Bank is planning to implement programmes in Mongolia in creating jobs, developing the agriculture sector, supporting individual development and strengthening governance.

Furthermore, James Anderson requested the Mongolian Government  reviews its obligations for distributing cash and increasing pension. He reminded Mr U. Khurelsukh that the government is required to implement programmes focusing on low income families.

Over the past 25 years, the World Bank has provided Mongolia with 134 loans totaling USD 817. 2 million.
