Newly appointed Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry D.Sumiyabazar has issued an order to temporarily suspend the granting of new mining licenses.
On 23 October, D.Sumiyabazar met officials from the Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority. During the meeting, the mining minister criticised the alleged license selling business in the mining sector, calling for a demonstration of professionalism and fairness among government officials.
Minister D.Sumiyabazar also gave B.Baatartsogt, Director of the Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority, the order, which aims to suspend the issuance of mining licenses until the country sorts out existing laws and regulations.
