According to specialists, children are not safe crossing the road on their own until they are 14. New research claims that their visual judgement and motor skills have not fully developed before then – putting them at risk each time they negotiate a busy street.

Parents and teachers from Khovd’s Third School, in the west of Mongolia, have painted flowers at crossroads in order to draw attention to child road safety. An annual competition entitled ‘green light – white line’ among school children has also taken place in Khovd province.
