The Mongolian Teachers’ Union announced that nearly 1000 teachers are to go on hunger strike. The demonstration is to be held on the capital’s Sukhbaatar square. Representatives of teachers from Mongolia’s 21 aimags (provinces) and five teachers from schools and kindergartens in Ulaanbaatar’s five districts, will participate in the hunger strike.

The teachers are demanding an increase in monthly salary by the end of 2017. However, for the last two months, the Government has not responded clearly to their demands.
