Mr Ahmet Yazal, Turkey’s ambassador to Mongolia held a meeting with Mongolian journalists earlier today (18th of October). Ambassador Yazal said: ‘We aim to increase trade between Mongolia and Turkey to USD 300-500 million; however, it currently stands at USD 25-35 million.
The ambassador said that Turkish Airlines are currently limited to offering a paltry 500 seats a week under the terms of the air services agreement between the two nations. Turkish Airlines wants to double its capacity to Mongolia by launching two weekly nonstop wide-body flights from Istanbul to Ulaanbaatar while maintaining three weekly one-stop flights via Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan. Mr. Ahmet Yazal noted that if the direct flight is launched, the ticket price would decrease by 25-30 percent.
