The 25th anniversary concert of the Morin Khuur Ensemble will be held on 21st of October. The concert is to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the establishment in 1992 of group, designed to bring Mongolia’s traditional music to the world. During this period, the ensemble has performed more than 250 concerts in over 250 cities in 20 countries.
The anniversary concert is directed by state-honoured composer N.Jantsannorov.
The Morin Khuur, or ‘horse-head fiddle’, is a two-stringed instrument akin to a cello, which has been played in Mongolia for centuries. It is intrinsically linked to national culture and identity.
