Mongolian cultural professionals have joined the teachers and doctors, who have twice been on strike demanding higher pay. According to actor G.Amgalanbaatar, the Mongolian government has not increased the salary of theatre artists since 2014. The teachers, doctors and theatre artists will hold a joint demonstration on Ulaanbaatar’s Sukhbaatar Square on 16th of October.

Nearly 260 employees currently work at the  National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Mongolia. Actor G.Amgalanbaatar said theatre artists receive MNT 535 thousand (USD 217) a month; 21 percent of which goes on taxes. But, stage designers, painters, carpenters,  receptionists and other theatre staff only take home MNT 371 thousand (USD 151) a month.
