Earlier today (5th of October),  State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs D.Davaasuren received a delegation led by Iranian Ambassador H.E.Damanpak Jami, the Deputy Director of International Education and Research Institute at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Iranian delegation is visiting Mongolia to launch the second stage of a Mongolia-Iran joint research project for studying the history of the Mongol Ilkhanate. Founded in the year 1256, the Ilkhanate was a large administrative division of the Mongol Empire, covering much of the Middle East. It lasted until 1335.

The project’s first stage of research was implemented in 2015-2016 and researched manuscripts from the 13-14th centuries, which are stored in Iranian archives, libraries and research centers.

Within the second stage, scholars of the countries are studying the Compendium of Chronicles written by the famous Persian statesman, historian and physician Rashid-al-Din Hamadini (1247-1318), who lived during the period of Mongol rule. This book tells about Chinggis Khaan and his descendants.
