Mongolia’s new Prime Minister, U.Khurelsukh, has introduced amendments to the 2017 budget; this took place at a session of the State Great Khural (parliament), earlier today (5th of October). During the session, acting Finance Minister B.Choijilsuren noted that any salary increase for public servants this year and in 2018 are conditioned by the requirements of the IMF programme. It will, however, be possible to raise pensions in the 2018 budget.
According to Finance Minister Choijilsuren, budget revenue is anticipated to exceed nearly MNT 900 billion; MNT 498 billion will be spent on debt payments. He also noted that child benefit, which is paid for all Mongolia’s youngsters, will, by the end of 2017, have cost a costs a total of MNT 105 billion.
