The Mongolian People’s Party held a conference on Monday (25th of September) in order to select a new candidate for the post of Prime Minister. The choice fell upon acting Deputy Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh.
During the party conference, a secret ballot was conducted to elect the prime ministerial candidate. The nominees proposed by the party’s Council to the Conference were acting Deputy Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh, and N.Enkhbold and U.Enkhtuvshin, who are both MP’s
Acting Deputy Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh won 188 votes or 63.9 percent, whilst U.Enkhtuvshin got 101 votes or 34.4 percent, and N.Enkhbold – five votes or 1.7 percent support in the poll run among the 294 members of the MPP Conference.
The Mongolian State Great Khural (parliament), in which the MPP holds an overwhelming majority of seats, will now decide whether to approve or reject the candidature of U.Khurelsukh as 30th Prime Minister of Mongolia.
