Today (26th of September) Mongolian teachers enter the second day of their strike in which they are demanding that their monthly salaried be raised to MNT 1.6 million. This time, 80 percent of schools and kindergartens are closed for a day.

Last week, on 21st of September, thousands of teachers from 366 of the 654 schools , and 286 of the 867 kindergartens participated in their first strike. As a result, 50 percent of schools and 30 percent of all kindergartens were closed for a day.  This figure has now risen sharply.

The teachers are threatening to strike continuously if their demands are not met.
