On 20th of September, Mongolian President Kh.Battulga received representatives of the national judo, freestyle wrestling, boxing and basketball teams, members of which had won medals at the Olympic Games and world championships. During the meeting, President Battulga discussed government policy on sports with them. The guests openly shared the challenges they have been facing, such as the low salaries for trainers and athletes alike – regardless of their success in international competitions.
Olympic judoka champion N.Tuvshinbayar, better internationally known by his Mongolian patronymic of ‘Naidan’ said: ‘I haven’t thought about retiring yet. But, I am getting a bit long in the tooth. I haven’t any competitions in the near future. Frankly, I doubt that I can take parts in the Olympics and other competitions.’
