A meeting of the IMF Executive Board had been expected to be held on 25th of September to summarise the next steps for financial assistance to Mongolia. However, the meeting has been postponed for an undefined period after the Mongolian parliament voted to oust the Prime Minister and his cabinet on 7th of September. The News Agency sought to clarify the situation with Finance Minister B.Choijilsuren.
Mr. B.Choijilsuren explained that the IMF aid programme is a package for financial assistance. Under the IMF aid programme, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide USD 250 million to Mongolia; USD 100 million of which has already been transferred. Mongolia will receive a further USD 100 million in October and USD 50 million in December. Furthermore, the government is discussing a tranche of USD 130 million from the World Bank in the fourth quarter of this year.
According to the Finance Minister, in the nine months of 2017,Mongolian budget revenue stands in excess of USD 300 million. The Ministry of Finance is planning to present the 2017 budget amendment and 2018 budget plan by 1st of October.
