Erik Solheim, executive director of the UN Environment Programme visited Mongolia on 13th and 14th of September, at the invitation of the Minister of Environment and Tourism. The UN team led by Mr. Solheim met Ministry officials and discussed UN programmes currently being implemented in Mongolia.

Mongolia joined the ‘Breathe Life’ campaign lead by the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Environment and Climate & Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) to mobilize cities and individuals to protect our health and planet from the effects of air pollution.

Erik Solheim has been the Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme since May 2016. In 2005–2007 he was the Minister of International Development and in 2007–2012 he served as the Minister responsible for development cooperation and environmental affairs.
