Mongolia’s Prime Minister J.Erdenebat has been dismissed from his post and his Cabinet dissolved after a vote of no confidence in the State Great Khural (parliament). On 7th of September, Mongolian lawmakers held an extraordinary parliamentary session to discuss issues related to the proposed dismissal of the Prime Minister. During the session, 30 lawmakers commented on the proposed dismissal of the Prime Minister. In total, 57.5 percent voted for the dismissal of the Prime Minister in this extraordinary session of the State Great Khural in which 73 MPs participated.

Dozens of lawmakers from Mongolia’s ruling party have called for the country’s prime minister and cabinet to step down because of an abuse of power. A petition to dissolve the Mongolian Parliament was signed by 33 members of the ruling Mongolian People’s Party (MPP), who have accused Prime Minister J.Erdenebat and other senior figures of breaking the law in pursuit of their own business and political interests.

The MPP won by a landslide in the 2016 elections, taking 65 out of 76 seats in the national parliament, and formed the cabinet headed by J.Erdenebat, who is now alleged to have used his political powers to spy on fellow party members.
