The city authorities of the Ulaanbaatar have imposed a temporary ban on the transportation of live cattle, sheep and goats from local regions to the capital city, in efforts to curb the spread of acute infectious diseases of animals. According to the Metropolitan Department of Emergency Situations of Mongolia, the measure has been taken in response to the spread of acute infectious diseases of animals in several provinces.
The Metropolitan Department of Emergency Situations has decided that it is necessary to take additional measures to protect against the introduction of pathogens of dangerous diseases. Under the decision, the transportation of cattle and sheep to the capital has been suspended from 28th August until the end of the year.
Currently, Mongolian veterinary specialists have been implementing a set of measures to eliminate the diseases by means of disinfection, the establishment of quarantine restrictions and the mass vaccination of susceptible animals. In early August, Mongolia received 1.2 million doses of a vaccine against infectious diseases of animals from Russia.
