An international academic conference entitled ‘Issues concerning XX century Mongolian history and culture’ is being held in Ulaanbaatar. The event is organised by the International Association for Mongolian Studies, the Mongolian State University of Education, the Inner Mongolian University and Akita International University of Japan.

Twentieth century Mongolian history contains some parts which are complex and disputed, especially the 1920-1930s, 1950-1960s.  History was extensively re-written at the time and has become blurred. It is hoped that the conference will help add clarity and objectivity to Mongolia’s dramatic and controversial modern history.
