Ulaanbaatar Railways reported that rail transit traffic between Russia and China was 1.67 million tonnes in first seven months of the year – an increase of 18 percent on 2016.
Russia restarted crude oil shipments to China after it was stopped 12 years ago. In total, 1500 rail tank cars or 89,219 tonnes or crude oil passed through Mongolia to China in four months.
The Russian Federation is expecting to transport 400 thousand tonnes of crude oil to China; this transit traffic will help increase the flow of foreign exchange into Mongolia.
