On 17th August, Deputy Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh sent a letter of resignation to Prime Minister J.Erdenebat.
In the letter, he blamed PM J.Erdenebat for the failure to defend the case of MNT 60 billion, a recording between some politicians that spread on social network on raising money by selling public positions and expressed his resignation from Deputy PM’s post.
In requesting to be released from the posts of member of the Government and the Deputy Prime Minister, he wrote, ‘I have no confidence and morally cannot work with the Prime Minister any longer as his policy and activities do not satisfy the interests of Mongolian state and national security’,.
Under Mongolian law, a proposal made by a member of the government to resign on health grounds, or for other reasons, should be submitted to the State Great Khural (parliament); the parliamentary plenary session should solve the issue after discussion of the proposal with the relevant standing committee within seven days.
Until the completion of his petition, the Deputy Prime Minister will perform his duties.
