The Supreme Court of Mongolia held a hearing on the murder case of S.Zorig, the former Minister for Infrastructure early today (4th of August). The judges have decreased the sentences of the three suspects, B.Sodnomdarjaa, Ts.Amgalanbaatar and T.Chimgee to 20 years in prison.
In the hearings which conduded last December, the three had been sentenced to 24-25 years of imprisonment in high-security correctional facilities as a result of the. The Court of Appeals did not change this sentence on the grounds that the witness testimonies had been proven by evidence.
Meanwhile, the defendants refused to accept the court decisions and the case has now been transferred to a supervisory court.
S.Zorig, one of leaders of Mongolian Democratic Revolution, was allegedly assasinated on 2nd October of 1998. Until 2016, the case – the most famous in the modern history of Mongolia – had remained unresolved.
