The 41st Session of the World Heritage Committee took place from 2nd to 12th of July in the Polish town of Krakow. During the session, the Committee added 21 new sites to UNESCO’s World Heritage List. 

On 7th of July, the Daurian Steppe was officially added to the list. This is a unique eco-region, shared between eastern Mongolia and the Russian Federation. The site covers a total of 912,624 hectares; 279,023 hectares are in Russia and 633,601 hectares are in Mongolia. The Mongolian part of the Daurian Steppe includes the Gurvanzagal, Dashbalbar, Chuluunkhoroot and Bayandun soums of Dornod province.
