MP O.Baasankhuu has requested an open trial for the S.Zorig murder case to Kh.Battulga, President of Mongolia. The case is to go to the High Court of Mongolia. The hearings were postponed at the request of the families of the defendants in July.

Three suspects namely, Ts.Amgalanbaatar, B.Sodnomdarjaa and T.Chimgee were sentenced to 20-25 years in December in for killing S.Zorig, the Mongolian Minister of Infrastructure and one of the heroes of the country’s peaceful transition to democracy.

Subsequently the three appealed against the verdict.

The murder of the politician took place nineteen years ago on 2^nd October 1998 and for the two decades has been the topic of speculation regarding high-level cover-ups.
