Although many of the forest fires, which are raging across Mongolia, have been brought under control, the situation still remains very serious. As we have reported, an army of firefighters, backed by soldiers and volunteers from the public, are battling the fires in very difficult conditions.

A working group led by Major General T.Badral, chief of the Mongolian National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has been flown by Mi-17 1E helicopter to the sites of some of the most serious fires. As part of the mission, the group is delivering aid to firefighters who are battling forest fires; including much needed medical equipment, medicine, food and clothes which have been gathered from donations from individuals and companies.

The working group will also examine the forest fire situation in the Eruu and Mandal soums of Selenge province and the Erdene and Batsumber soums of Tuv province.

As of today, (20^th of July), NEMA has received a total of MNT 546 million in cash donations from 556 enterprises and numerous individuals.
