Five judges from Mongolia are to learn the ins and outs of the U.S. legal system later this month.

Dr. Sudhakar Jamkhandi, president of the non-profit Center for International Understanding in Princeton, arranged the visitation through the Open World Leadership Center in Washington, D.C.

The Mongolian delegation includes Luvsandorj Odonchimeg, judge, First-Instance Intersoum Criminal Court of Dundgobi Province; Mishigdorj Batzorig, judge, First-Instance Civil Court of Khan-Uul District; Nandintsetseg Zorigoo, judge, First-Instance Criminal Court of Zavkhan Province; Tungalag Lkhagvajargal, chief judge, First Instance Administrative Court in Zavkhan Province; and Ariuntsetseg Lkhagvasuren, civil judge, First Instance Inter-Soum Civil Court of Orkhon Province.

“The delegation (four women and one man) of judges will be here July 22 through July 29,” he said. “They will stay with host families in the area.”

Jamkhandi said he is pleased the Princeton center was chosen as one of the hosts for Open World’s Rule of Law program.

“The Mongolian judges will learn about rule of law, U.S. jurisprudence and the different levels of courts (city, county, state and federal levels),” he said.

The group will have an interpreter and meet with judges and prosecutors in Mercer County, he added.

Mongolian judges will also learn about how children’s and human rights and the indigent are safeguarded and provided legal support from Shiloh Woodard of Child Protect, Cathy Wallace of Child Law Services, Tracy Burks of the public defender’s office, and Devin True of Legal Aid of West Virginia.
