Following the visit of the Dalai Lama, another Buddhist leader is to visit Mongolia. However, unlike the 82 year-old Dalai Lama, the 20th incarnation of Kushok Bakula Rinpoche is only twelve years old. Believed to be an ’emanation’ of the Buddha Amithaba, Bakuka Rinpoche will arrive in Ulaanbaatar tomorrow in order to be present at the enthronement of the Danzan Agvaan Jigmid Vanchig on 27th of July.
Bakula Rinpoche is one of the best known lamas of Ladakh; in his last incarnation he was a statesman and international diplomat of the Republic of India. He was known for his efforts in reviving Buddhism in Mongolia and Russia, linking them with the community of Tibetan exiles in India. Bakula Rinpoche also served in the Parliament of India
