Night-time electricity costs in Ulaanbaatar’s  ger districts have been  reduced by 100 percent. It is planned that each provincial and soum (district) centre with a population of over 10 thousand population will receive 50 percent night-time electricity discounts. It is estimated, that around 140 thousand households will benefit from this discount.

Only occupied households are elibile for the discounts on electricity used for heating or household purposes at night during the cold seasons. The Energy Regulatory Commission will be responsible for determining the duration of cold season and night time period, as well as maximum power consumption based on electricity transmission, the capacity of the network and technical capabilities.

Furthermore, the regulation states that the Ministry of Environment and Ulaanbaatar City Governor’s Office will annually determine air quality improvement in the capital.
