Vestas has taken the first steps towards erecting turbines at the 50MW Tsetsii wind farm in Mongolia, now that unfavorable weather conditions have cleared.

The first tower section has successfully been installed at the project, located in the Gobi desert in the country’s south.

In February, the Danish manufacturer said that high winds and extreme cold had halted general construction at the site.

It continued transporting turbine components to the site while the poor weather conditions prevailed.

Overall progress on the project remains ahead of schedule, Vestas said in its latest update.

‘Even with the obstacles and challenges that a remote location like the Gobi desert brings, the Vestas team and its partners are prepared to safely complete the project as planned,’ Vestas said.
