Japan’s Tokyo Komaki Ballet Company will perform Stravinsky’s ‘The Firebird’ at the State Opera and Ballet Academic Theatre of Mongolia. More than 50 Japan ballerinas will dance with Mongolian artists on one stage and State Honoured Artist, ballet dancer and Cultural Envoy of Mongolia D.Altankhuyag will play the main role of the ballet.
‘The Firebird’ is one of the greatest ballets; first premiered in Paris in 1910 by the famous Ballets Russes, it was a landmark ushering in a revolution in modern ballet. Igor Stravinsky’s spectacular work is now a classic of the repertoire. Also to be performed will be ‘Paquita’, a beautiful and romantic traditional classical ballet about gypsies, passion and intrigue in Spain during the Napoleonic wars. This two act work was written by E.Deldeves and L.Minkus. ‘Paquita’ premiered at the Paris Opera House in 1846 going on to prove a huge success at the St Petersburg Imperial Ballet in 1851.
Other ballet news is that D.Altankhuyag will play a solo role at the Jose Theatre in New York on 22nd and 23rd of June.
