An Open Door Day was organised by the Ministry of Road and Transport Development on Ulaanbaatar’s Sukhbaatar Square on 24th and 25th of May. The event showcased new advanced technologies in road, air and railway transport sectors.
The exhibition displayed a remodeled version of the Antonov AN-2 biplane. This plane was the most commonly used aircraft in the 1970’s providing the backbone of internal air transport. The new version ‘TVS-2MS’ has been created by ‘Rusaviaprom’. According to Minister of Road and Transport Development D.Ganbat, negotiations have been underway with Russia to use the new biplane for pest control, extinguising fires and providing medical services. As part of the ministry’s experiment, the plane will make test flights in over 70 soums of 18 aimags. If the results are positive, the ministry is planning to build the plane domestically.
